Installation of the extra brake pedal for the driving instructor and the equipment of a training vehicle

Make sure that an extra brake pedal for the driving instructor can be installed on your vehicle and that the pedal you are planning to use is suitable for your vehicle. The manufacturer’s instructions must be followed when installing the brake pedal. The easiest way of ensuring that the extra brake pedal is safe is to entrust its installation to a professional. You must ensure that pedal is installed in the car appropriately. It must not in any way distract the function of the original brake pedal of the vehicle. The extra brake pedal for the driving instructor must be firmly attached to the vehicle. Its placement should ensure that the instructor or the driving test examiner can use it without disruption.

Before embarking you should always make sure that both brake pedals in the car function normally and with equal force. You should also check that the additional mirror and the driving instruction triangle are appropriately attached. The additional mirror must be attached on the outside of the vehicle to allow the instructor to also monitor traffic behind the vehicle. The sides of the driving instruction triangle should be 16 to 25 cm in length, and the triangle should be attached behind the vehicle in a visible location. In a driving test, the examiner will test the functioning of the extra brake pedal before starting the test. An appropriately installed and well-functioning extra brake pedal is a condition for taking the test.
